The next Centershot class is starting!

Posted Jun 21 2011 - 8:14am by dave

If you missed the first week, don't worry about it! Come on out and start on week 2; lots of people have done that before and it is no problem.

Okay guys, the next round is Centershot is starting up on June 22nd. For those who may not know, Centershot is an 8 week archery class where we convert the fellowship hall into an archery range and teach you how to shoot. All equipment is provided and it is a lot of fun. Here is all the information you need to know:

When: Wednesday nights through August 10th
6-7 for the teenagers (who then go to normal youth service at 7)
7-8:30 for everyone else

Ages: We basically say 8 to 108. We do have kid bows with a lighter pull and all that is needed is the ability to pull the bow. Kids 8 and up generally have no problem, but if you have a kid younger, we can check and see if they can pull one.

Cost: $15 for an individual and @20 for an entire family. We do provide nursery from 7-8:30 as well as a kids program for any kids who do not want to take part in Centershot but their parents do.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the church office at 885-5033. We'll see you at Centershot next Wednesday night!

I know a few of you have asked me to put up release forms for our snow tubing trip on Saturday, January 30th, so here you go. There are two forms, and we need both of them filled out.

You can download the forms by clicking here.

Here are the details:

Cost: $35 (includes tubing and all meals)
Time: Meet at the church at 8am.
We will be back around 8 or 8:30 that night.

In order to make sure we have enough space for everyone, we need you let us know by Wednesday night if you are going. Thanks and give me or the church a call if you have any questions.

Ouch - Tozer hurts

Posted Mar 27 2009 - 8:02am by dave

I love to read A.W. Tozer. I was reading in his book, The Pursuit of God this morning, and I wanted to share something he said with you. In this passage, he is talking about great men of faith and how God works in their lives. Also, keep in mind that this book was written around 1948 to 1949.

The culture war

Posted Feb 6 2009 - 7:58am by dave

One of the things I get passionate about is the cultural war this country is in right now. While most of the country still holds to traditional values, there is a smaller section of this country fighting to make Christians out to be the bad guys who are the cause of all of the social ills we see in this world. You see this more in television and movies than anywhere else.

24 (and a half)

Posted Jan 27 2009 - 10:39pm by dave

Hello from the Evangelism Conference up in Albuquerque! I am having an amazing time up here with the ministerial staff (plus a couple of wives-only one is mine), and God has done great things here. I kinda hate having to go back home tomorrow, but it will be nice to come home and get to have a great choir practice and youth service. Tonight I had a realization that caught me off guard, and want to share it with you so here are some numbers:

8 - the number of sermons I've heard preached by David in January
3 - how many sermons I heard at the Ignite Student Conference

Hello from Ignite!

Posted Jan 16 2009 - 11:09pm by dave

I just had to post real quick before going to bed (hopefully). We are here at the Ignite Student Conference in Lubbock with about 3000 teenagers from all over having a great time praising Jesus! I don't know where all these teenagers are from, but I know a bunch are from Texas, a bunch are fom New Mexico, and I even saw a bus from Liberal, Kansas.

Tonight, we got to experience the magic of illusionist Drew Worsham (pictured to the right). We had two concerts by KJ52 and The Road Less Traveled. I was in meetings and missed the worship with Jeff Johnson and his band, but I heard good things about it.

Hunger in New Mexico

Posted Aug 19 2008 - 11:26am by dave

I just read an article today that was from the July 26th issue of our Baptist New Mexican paper. I found the article from our Ethics & Religious Liberties feed on the bottom right of our homepage. The most eye opening thing to me was this statement:

New Mexico has the highest food insecurity rate in the nation, with a 15.87 percent food-insecurity rate. This may not mean much by itself, but when we consider that Latin America is 11 percent, we realize that New Mexico, in relationship to World Hunger, is worse than many Third World nations.
